18th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Good Weekend to You!

  Saturday, August 1, 2020

Today we celebrate the Feast of Saint Alphonsus Liguori

"Saint Alphonsus Liguori was a great moral theologian as well as the founder of the Redemptorists. He wrote in the areas of spirituality and doctrine to the edification of his diocese and others. He also suffered at the hands of some Redemptorists who betrayed his dream. Even the saints have difficulties in this life."

Today's Mass Readings:
Jer. 26:11-24; Ps. 69:15-34; Mt. 14:1-12;
Ps. 69 "LORD, in your great love, answer me."

Today is the 18th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Today we celebrate the Feast of Saint Eusebius of Vercelli

"Today’s saint, Eusebius of Vercelli, spent most of his episcopal life defending the Church against the Arians. Also a defender of Saint Athanasius, whom the emperor wanted to punish, Saint Eusebius suffered death threats and harassment. But Saint Eusebius continued to remain faithful and hopeful.

Today's Mass Readings:

Is. 55:1-3; Ps. 145:8-18; Rom. 8:35-39; Mt. 14:13-21;
Ps. 145: "The hand of the Lord feeds us; he answers all our needs. "

For Your Marriage: Daily Marriage Tip

August 1st:  “The whole Israelite community grumbled against Moses.” (Ex 4:12) It’s tempting to grumble against one’s spouse, or even God, when things aren’t going well. An occasional grumble can be an okay way to let off steam, but try to balance it with expressions of gratitude and good cheer."

August 2nd: “What will separate us from the love of Christ? Will anguish, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or the sword?” Rom 8:35 The answer, of course, is nothing! Don’t forget Christ’s care for your marriage and family, especially when things get hard."

For Your Marriage helps couples at all stages of life to understand and live God's plan for happy, holy marriages. For Your Marriage is an initiative of the Catholic Church; for more information, click here.
